Mormon Temple Groundbreaking In Sapporo Japan

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (inadvertently called by friends of other faiths, the “Mormon Church”) broke ground for a beautiful new temple on the Japanese island of Sapporo. According to Latter-day Saint belief, a holy temple is literally a House of the Lord Jesus Christ, where worthy members worship and receive instruction and guidance from Him and the Father to guide them in all their affairs. Latter-day Saint leaders (Mormon leaders) Elder Gary E. Stevenson, Elder Michael T. Ringwood and Elder Koichi Aoyagi were present at the ground breaking. According to Church news, this marks the third temple in Japan and the 6th in Asia. This new temple indicates the continuing  abundant blessings that are...

LDS (Mormon) Temples: Refuge from the Storm

As a young single adult member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-ay Saints (inadvertently called by friends of other faiths The Mormon Church), I benefit regularly from worship in the Lord’s House, his holy temples. Back to the family story: He was 22 year old John Wallace Brown, the son of...

Inspiration Through Mormon Temple Worship

By Kimberly DeGroff Madsen, a public diplomacy consultant specializing in Eastern Europe and Faith Diplomacy, doctoral candidate, and full-time LDS (“Mormon”) mom. It has been said that “The temple is a place of revelation, of inspiration, meditation, and peace—a place to restore ourselves, to clear our minds, to find answers to our prayers, and to enjoy the satisfaction of worship and service” (David E. Sorensen, The Doctrine of Temple Work, Liahona, August, 2002). These blessings became clear to me when my husband, Tyler, and I went to the temple in Raleigh, North Carolina.  I was six months pregnant, and Tyler was just starting his second semester at a top ten law school.  He had been doing well in his...
