Mormonism Answers: How Obedience Increases Spirituality

A Trait of Strength Oftentimes, it can be easy to view obedience as having negative connotations, as though a person who is obedient is too simple to think for himself, or is being forced to bend to another’s will. It’s one of those traits, rather like meekness or humility that, on the surface, looks weak, but in reality is very, very strong. In the gospel of Jesus Christ, obedience is not a trait of weakness, but of strength. In Deuteronomy chapter 4, the Lord instructs the children of Israel: “If thou shalt turn to the Lord thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice . . . he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers” (Deut. 4:30-31). Mormon Temple Groundbreaking In Sapporo Japan

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (inadvertently called by friends of other faiths, the “Mormon Church”) broke ground for a beautiful new temple on the Japanese island of Sapporo. According to Latter-day Saint belief, a holy temple is literally a House of the Lord Jesus Christ, where worthy members worship and receive instruction and guidance from Him and the Father to guide them in all their affairs. Latter-day Saint leaders (Mormon leaders) Elder Gary E. Stevenson, Elder Michael T. Ringwood and Elder Koichi Aoyagi were present at the ground breaking. According to Church news, this marks the third temple in Japan and the 6th in Asia. This new temple indicates the continuing  abundant blessings that are...
